Enables RS10 data logger to accurately monitor pulse type sensors, such as water meters and rain gauges.  The built-in circuit is permanently energized and a dedicated counter circuit ensures that all pulses from the sensor are captured accurately. 
 
Data is read by data logger using MODBUS, and multiple adapters can be attached to the same data logger using Y-cables.  The MODBUS protocol enables very long cable runs in situations where the sensor is indoors while the best location for the logger is outside for solar power and easy downloading of data.
 
The dedicated counter design provides a higher degree of accuracy than many common designs where a small microcontroller is responsible for capturing pulses along with other tasks.
